In Class 4A, the host Chargers had the biggest haul of any school.
Not only did Anna Hastings (18:23.50) and Nicholas Ponte (15:40.82) win individual Extravaganza titles, but the Charger boys beat rival Los Alamos 37-51 for the boys, and the girls finished second.
“We were really pleased across the board, we had a lot of PRs on this course,” Chargers coach Adam Kedge said.
Hastings crossed five seconds in front of Los Alamos’ Grace Montoya and Academy teammate Addison Julian. Ponte was 18 seconds ahead of Los Alamos’ Benjamin Sanchez.
“I’ve been racing Benji so much, and it’s just really nice to finally win the Extravaganza,” Ponte said.
Said Kedge: “Nicholas has stepped up his training volume over the past six months and it’s evident the work he’s put in has paid dividends for him.”
